ABOUT ME
Madeleine started playing football at the age of 11 after being inspired by her idol Ederson, who plays for Manchester City. She joined Ashton Pumas to train as a goalkeeper but the team already had a keeper, so she had to share games in goal and play outfield in a defensive position. Not only did she excel in defence where her coaches described her as ‘the brick at the back’, she went from strength to strength in her goalkeeping skills which soon led her to become the first and only goalkeeper for Ashton Pumas Under 14s/ 15s team.
Playing both league football, futsal and 3v3 tournaments for Ashton Pumas, she has stood out as an exceptional goalkeeper as commented by referees, parents and opposing coaches. This has resulted in many accolades of Girl of the Game – not often awarded to the goalkeeper position.
Madeleine has also represented her school in football (and netball) tournaments and has been successful in these games. Once, she even played for the boys’ team, being the only girl in the tournament for her school.
In March 2022, she started to play futsal with her team. After playing only 4 games before the season ended in May, the futsal league manager named her ‘Futsal Keeper of the Season’.
Madeleine was voted Captain for the 2022 – 23 season, as she leads by example, gives 100% all the time and is vocally supportive of her team mates. She was voted Player’s Player for the 2021 -2022 season and Parents’ Player for the 2020 – 2021 season.
Madeleine would like to become an American Collegiate Athlete as she wishes to study in one of the best universities in America and train in state-of-the-art training facilities. She believes that this opportunity can only be experienced in America amongst the best athletes in the field. Madeleine is very competitive and has the drive and determination to succeed and will relish the challenges she faces. Madeleine would like to study sports physiotherapy or some similar course as a degree to complement her soccer training.
